Happy Birthday Galebo!!

Today is the birthday of one of the sweetest, most thoughtful, and funniest people I know... my mom!! We celebrated on Saturday by taking a trip to one of her favorite places, Harvest Moon Cafe. We had the best day filled with lots of family, food, and cake.





I hope you have the best day ever... you deserve it!! We love you to the moon and back :)

Man Cave

I left for about four hours today and when I came home from work, Dukey & a good friend were out in the garage building... I laid down for a nap and when I woke up, this was staring me in the face...

During my nap time, they had gone to Home Depot and built this monstrosity. I have to say, I was really impressed with their manly-manness. Little did I know, more manliness was coming around the corner. Another high school friend came over to join in on the Braves marathon and brough his Great Dane. Holy crap, a great dane was in our itty bitty townhouse. I wish I had snapped a shot of the puppy, all stretched out on top of our friend in our little living room. Priceless. Noah & I camped out & studied in the bedroom, while the men enjoyed being men. :)

Family Birthday

Today was THE. BEST. DAY. EVER!! We got to see lots of family, AND start camp connection at SABC! We started off the day at church with Mom. After church, we changed clothes and went directly over to my parents' house to start the celebration. Mom & Dad cooked, and we had the best cake in the world (from Honeymoon, of course). We spent hours talking & laughing with both sets of parents, and my brother & SIL! Everyone's presence was the best present I could have ever asked for!! I truly have the best friends & family on the face of the earth, and I am grateful for them every single day. After lunch, we scooted on over to church to kick off Camp Connection. It was Dukey's first time participating, so it was an experience for him!! He grinned and bared it gracefully, but I caught wind from the preacher that Dukey had to carry a child down the stairs... Surprisingly, he actually wants to go back next week!

Blue Steakhouse

Mom & I got to see The Help today and it was AH-MAZING!!! We had both read the book, and loved it. I was really skeptical of the movie because movies are rarely as good as the books, but this movie did not disappoint! I highly recommend seeing this movie... like now. We laughed and cried along with everyone else in the theater, and it was a great experience to see the past of the Southern town in Mississippi.

When I lived in Carrollton, Dukey & I became really good friends with my neighbors the night I basically burnt my leg off.



We got to celebrate their engagement tonight at a lovely restaurant on the square in Carrollton, Blue Steakhouse.



The food was great, and the company was even BETTER!!! It was so great to see them and that gorgeous bling!!



Looking forward to seeing them again verrrry soon :)

Birthday In the Office

I am completely overwhelmed by my sweet co-workers today. It definitely feels good for my co-workers to celebrate my birthday, and know that I am no longer "the new one". It was such a special day, and not only because we celebrated my birthday at work with a GIANT cookie cake!! We had cookie cake for breakfast, lunch, dinner, took cookie cake to neighbors, and even had some left over!! This is definitely the biggest, and best cookie cake I have ever had. It was a great way to kick off the weekend!!

Wedding Flowers

After church, we went over to Dukey's parents' house for a little visit and Mrs. Creativity herself had a special arrangement ready for me!! She took the flowers from our wedding, dried them out, and made a few arrangements for us to take home. Good thing my sweet MIL is so crafty... because I'm soooo not! Here's what we did with them...


I had been looking for the perfect flowers to go in our Juliska vase, a wedding present from very good friens. These flowers fit perfectly!!

They are the perfect reminders of our big day, that are placed sporadically throughout our house to appreciate daily.

Motivation

Dukey was such an amazing husband because he let me study all day with absolutely no distractions and took me out for a sweet treat after all the hard work was over!! This is what I picked...

Go figure... I chose a miniature of our wedding cake!! The red velvet with the cream cheese icing is to die for! Talk about motivation...

Shark Week

In case y'all didn't know... it's shark week!!!!!



You know what that means?? I get plenty of study time with little to no interruptions!


Dukey is OB-SESSED with Shark Week, and watches it 24/7 every year.


This week is also a Heaven-send because I don't have to watch the History Channel every second of the day!


Pick your poison I guess... Although I don't really understand what the big deal is...

Bashing with the Bogues

Tonight, we went to a wedding of one of my sweet sorority sisters. This ceremony was so special because the two people we were celebrating are extra special! This wedding had the cutest decorations I had ever seen at a wedding. They included vintage candle lanterns, old letters of her grandparents' from WWII, and huge, unique, flower arrangements everywhere. I wish I had gotten more pictures of the decorations, but it was hard to snap a few because there were so many people there! I think it's safe to say that Patty Ann and Bobby have a few good friends. Their abundance of friends was a direct result of how good of friends they are to so many. Here are a few pictures from the wedding...

Bar Done

I'm sure my brother and my sweet SIL are celebrating today...



Because she is DONE with the Bar exam!! WHEW!! To the hardest worker I know... I hope it all paid off!!! You may now have a couple of these...

July 4th at the Lake

This year, we spent July 4th in Centre, AL and enjoyed loads of family time!! I try not to think about how much I miss my family until it comes close to seeing them. When it finally comes, I can't WAIT!! Here are a few pictures from the lake...I know these are very bad quality pictures, but they are too cute to pass up!

Judging by my pictures, you probably couldn't tell that I love everyone in my family, not just sweet ML (although I'm clearly obsessed with her)!! It was a wonderful weekend, simply because God has blessed me with the best family in the entire world!!

Lake Arrival

We finally made it to the lake after a long day of getting my new work things in order!! We couldn't WAIT to squeeze little ML (and she couldn't WAIT to squeeze Noah) and the rest of our family!!


Happy 4th!!!

Mission Rome: Day 1

Today was the first day of Mission Rome with SABC and I was elated to get to help with this project! We are running a day camp for The Boys and Girls Club during the day and helping out in the community in the evenings. The first day of camp was unbelievable. The kids were wonderful, and the "Big Buddies" had so much fun spending time together. This afternoon, we helped Habitat for Humanity paint a house in South Rome. I had never painted a house before, so it was a first-time experience for me! Here are some of the pictures from the newspaper article on our work:

Sadly, it is time for our little vacay to end. Although we are sad, I think Noah and his girlfriend will be the saddest of all...

Thunderstorm Damage

Tonight, we got a late call from Dukey's parents, saying that a tree had hit their house. We rushed over to see what we could do to help. Here is the damage:

We spent the night helping them clear off the trees and watching Dukey's cousins get the tree off the house and tarp the house up. At least they got a free sky light in their bathroom!!

We were posted up all day at the lake today and here is our gorgeous view!! It's okay to be a little bit jealous...

We had quite the day out on the lake today!! We swam...
